Home to Stay Health Care Solutions Co-Sponsors Alzheimer’s Event at Friends Village

Dr. Verna Carson, Alzheimer specialist, to speak August 9

WOODSTOWN, NJ – Dr. Verna Carson, of Towson University in Maryland, will be the special guest speaker for “What’s Next?  Helping Your Loved One with Alzheimer’s” on August 9 at 4:00 p.m.  This free program will be held in the Fenwick Auditorium of Friends Village at Woodstown, One Friends Drive.

Friends Village and Home To Stay are proud to bring Dr. Carson, a nationally recognized Alzheimer’s/dementia educator, to South Jersey for this important program.

“Dr. Carson is a nurse, educator, writer and consultant who specializes in translating theory into practical information for caregivers,” said Andrew Dubler of Home To Stay, an in-home care agency.  “This program will be helpful for family caregivers and professionals alike.”

“When Andrew offered to share Dr. Carson’s expertise with the community, Friends Village was glad to provide the location for this special program,” stated Debbie Callahan, Friends Village Director of Marketing.  “Caring for seniors who live with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia is a daily challenge for families and professionals.  Friends Village is proud to share its resources for this timely presentation.”

Please call Friends Village at 856-769-1500 ext. 2736 to register for this important event with Dr. Carson.

Do you need support in order to attend the program?  Companion services for your loved one are available through Home to Stay.  Call Addy at 856-321-1500 for information.

South Jersey is home to a large number of seniors.  The rural nature of the area often makes it difficult to find and use services when needed.  Being able to educate family caregivers of area seniors, and give families tools and strategies that will immediately make their lives as caregivers more productive, is the reason for the Friends Village/Home to Stay partnership to make Dr. Carson’s program possible.
Verna Carson is a nurse educator and assistant professor at Towson University.  She has published numerous articles in respected medical publications and is sought after as a guest speaker for conferences and programs throughout the country.  In 2011, Dr. Carson produced a DVD and workbook focusing on managing challenging behaviors.
