HomeToStay_logo_companyNewsDear Annie Alzheimers,

My client is driving me crazy. I can’t handle her outbursts. She is refusing care. She has attempted to strike me when I approach her.  What do I do? I just want to quit.

Really gonna quit,

At My Wit’s End

Dear At My Wit’s End,

I’m sorry you are having such a hard time with your client. Just remember that her behaviors are not her fault. It is her illness. She cannot help it. Try taking a step back to regain your composure. 5 deep breaths may help you clear your mind and get a handle on the situation. Try to think of the cause of the behaviors. Is your client missing their loved one? Is your client in a new place that is strange to them? Could something be irritating them (i.e. blister on their foot, an itchy tag in their shirt, clothing is too tight)? Put your master detective hat on and look for clues.

Also know that you are part of a team. There is a RN Case Manager that you can vent to and seek advice. Just call the office to speak with Chris.

Fondly,

Annie A.
